Winter competition across Soccer and Netball is underway with record numbers of players registered across both sports. My congratulations to both Committees for their outstanding work in processing players, organising grading and teams, finding and securing Coaches and Managers, attending your Association’s meetings, finalising training schedules, organising uniforms and finally making it onto courts and pitches for game day. It takes a huge voluntary effort, behind the scenes to prepare and launch each new season, and a contuining dedication throughout competition to ensure that everyone’s expectations are realised.

In 2006 our Soccer Club started with 186 junior and senior players – today the Club boasts 644 juniors and seniors. Netball started in 2006 with just 48 players; today our girls take to the courts with 303 players across junior and senior teams. For the 2011-12 season just completed, the Rouse Hill Rams Sports Club had 1738 registered players competing across Netball, Soccer, Cricket and Little Athletics.

Our congratulations to the 4 Premiership winning Cricket sides – 2 junior teams – the 11-3s and 14-2s, ands 2 senior sides – the B5s and the B9s. Rouse Hill Rams Cricket Club in its sixth year, celebrated its most successful season ever with the Parramatta District Cricket Association, and is widely tipped to become the PDCA’s Club Champions for season 11-12.

Our congratulations also to the retiring Executive or our Little Athletics Centre. Amanda Burke and her Committee have successfully led the Centre for the past 2 years – at the recent Annual General Meeting, Amanda stood down from her position, and former Secretary Bob Gribbin has taken on the role of President – we wish Bob and his Committee continuing success as the Centre heads into its sixth year as part of the Rouse Hill Rams Sports Club.

As the weather continues to rain on our summer parade, my thoughts go out to all our athletes, In2cricket participants and our junior and senior cricketers who have frustratingly looked skyward (or at Radar screens on smart phones), for just one fine day before competition. Our Little Athletics season for 2011-12 has closed, and by the time you read this, semi finals for our cricketers will have been decided. My congratulations to those who have won through to Grand Finals. To those whose seasons have come to an end, be proud of your personal bests, your Zone or State accomplishments, Representative honours, runs scored, wickets taken, catches held and matches won or lost – most of all be proud of what you have accomplished and the friends you have made throughout the season. As you pack away your running shoes or cricket kit, just remember it will only be 16 weeks or so before the preparation for the next season gets under away.

Our Cricket Club has enjoyed incredible success, despite the weather, and are solid contenders to take out the Parramatta District Club championship. Never losing sight of their community base, Rouse Hill Rams Cricket Club has raised $3600 for the McGrath Foundation with their Annual Pink Day and Pink Celebration at our major sponsors, the Australian Hotel & Brewery.

The Australian Hotel & Brewery (http://www.australianhotelandbrewery.com.au/) renewed its financial committment to all 4 divisions of the Rouse Hill Rams Sports Club in February this year, and along side Orion Creative Solutions (http://www.orioncreative.com.au/), we are delighted that both these businesses support Rams Soccer, Netball Cricket and Little Athletics in the Rouse Hill community as our major sponsors . I urge you, in turn, to support all those sponsors, who so generously support us!

With the winter season just weeks away, both Netball and Soccer will launch into 2012 with record registrations. Soccer’s new Committee will face ground challenges with continuing rain forecast throughout March, and a lack of stable conditions for Council to carry out maintenace to our fields.

Volunteers needed – the positions of Treasurer and Secretary for the Rouse Hill Rams Sports Club remain vacant from the November 2011 Annual General Meeting. The smooth running of the Club relies on volunteers, with these positions requiring just 5-10 hours every month – please contact me at president.club@rousehillrams.com.au to tell me you can help.

Yours in sport,

Brian Yates

The Annual General Meeting of the Rouse Hill Rams Sports Club was held on Monday 21st November 2011. Brian Yates was re-elected President of the Sports Club for the fourth year, however the positions of Secretary and Treasuer remain unfilled.

The continuing success of the Sports Club and its sports divisions relies heavily on volunteers assisting with the administration of the Club, now heading into its seventh year of sport in the Rouse Hill community. If you can assist with either of these roles please contact Brian at president.club@rousehillrams.com.au

The Sports Club congratulates Paul Patterson (President), Chris Pedder (Vice President), Darren Newman (Secretary) and Emma Ashley (Treasurer) on their election to the Executive Committee of the Rouse Hill Rams Soccer Club. The new Committeee will be mentored and encouraged by outgoing Committee members as they steer Rams Soccer into season 2012 and beyond.

The Sports Club wishes to acknowledge the enormous contribution made to Rams Soccer by retiring Committee members Paul Smith, Rob Watson, Tracey and Mick Kelly and Violet Salvemini – the involvement of these individuals over the past six years has ensured that the Rouse Hill Rams Soccer Club is now the 7th largest Club in the Granville District.

To all our sports families, we wish you a safe and very happy Christmas and New Year holiday.

As we launch our 2011/12 summer season, we do so with a new, vibrant, modern and thoroughly professional web site that reflects the social networked community that we live in today.

Major sponsors, Orion Creative have worked quietly in the background throughout winter to provide the Sports Club, and its sports divisions this fantastic web site that offers key features focussing on draws, results, news and events. The ability for our membership to interact with the site, the Club and our divisions is also an exciting new development. The new site is a credit to Mark Rowe and his team at Orion Creative, and as a Club, we are extremely grateful for their support and sponsorship.

My congratulations to our Netball winning Premiers – 10C, 11B and 11C and to all the players, Coaches, Managers and officials that have combined with Narelle and her Committee to provide yet another successful Rams Netball year.

Summer Soccer returns to Centenary Park, Rouse Hill afetr a long absence. Operating at a senior level – mens, ladies and mixed competition kicks off on Thursday 15 September 2011.

With the Australian cricketers tucking the First Test under their belts in Sri Lanka, the real competition launches in the Parramatta district on 10 September 2011. Chris and Kathy have a record number of teams to take to the grounds this summer.

Not to be outdone, Little Athletics rolls out its fifth year with Rams on Friday 16th September 2011. As we shake off the winter blues and celebrate our Netball and Soccer successes, its a nice feeling to be heading into summer on this new website and as a part of the Rouse Hill Rams sports family.
