The summer of 2006-07 saw a new Club enter the Parramatta District Cricket Association - the Rouse Hill Rams Cricket Club. With the driving force of Brian Yates, Club President and Chris Ortiz, Club Secretary we entered 4 junior teams - U10 Greens, U11/2s, U13/2s, U14/2s and 3 senior sides - B7s, B13s and B14s into the competition. Every Friday night the BBQ was fired up as our in2cricketers cricketers (ages 4-8) descend on Second Ponds to learn basic cricket skills. Parents were able to sit and watch their children having fun whilst enjoying a scrumptious sausage sandwich and a drink. In our inaugural season our Under 10s were undefeated, B13s were semi finalists, B7s were finalists & runners up and the 13/2s were finalists & Premiers. In our second year we grew to 14 teams achieving 2 Premierships including our B8s claiming our first Senior Premiership. Year 3 we again grew with 17 teams taking the field in Seniors and Juniors. Again winning 2 premierships in the B13 & B14s in the Senior competition. Year 4 (2009/10 season) we held our teams to 17 (mainly due to the pressure on playing facilities) again claiming 2 premierships in the 14/2s and B11s In our second season we doubled almost everything - we fielded 14 teams and were able to field a team in every age group (two in the Under 11s). We also doubled our Social activities with the introduction of an Under 11 challenge against Kellyville Ridge Cricket, Trivia Night and a Junior & Senior Super 8s day to join the Ford Range Cup Bus Trip. On the playing field the club was hugely successful with every Junior and 2 Senior Sides making the Semis, 3 Juniors and 2 Seniors making the Final. Our B9s won our first Senior Premiership while our Under 15/2s defeated the Minor Premiers to claim the title. Season 2008/2009 again we went from strength to strength growing to 17 (10 Juniors & 7 Seniors). Our Mini Cricket was now in2Cricket and had a new home at Kellyville Front, Memorial Drive. We started a relationship with the Nortwest Hurricanes (Shires) which saw them helping with coaching and also some of our younger players played on turf. Again we were hugely successful on the park with 10 teams in the semis, 5 in the final and 2 Premiers (B13s and B14s). Again our next season is shaping up as a bumper year with a new expanded committee and some great energy. Chris Ortiz Rouse Hill Rams Cricket President |
